PowerTerm® WebConnect is Ericom's solution for providing seamless connectivity to Legacy host applications and Windows applications running on Windows Terminal Server 2000 / 2003.

PowerTerm WebConnect meets contemporary business requirements for:
  • Security
  • Centralized Administration
  • Remote Desktop Support

PowerTerm WebConnect enables access to a wide variety of hosts by supporting over 35 different emulation types, including IBM 3270 and 5250, VT525, Tandem, HP, and more. In addition, PowerTerm WebConnect supports access to Microsoft Terminal Server using Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP), with Seamless Windows applications; secure file transfer and remote printing using LPD.

PowerTerm WebConnect Server
The PowerTerm WebConnect server runs as a native application on Linux. The PowerTerm WebConnect server can either function as a gateway server allowing connections from the clients to the host to be routed through the WebConnect server, or allow direct connections to the host without being routed. In both configurations, clients maintain a constant connection to the server in order to download configurations and scripts, and enable real-time administrative control. When working in direct (non-gateway) mode, clients can continue to function even if they lose their connection to the server, so there is no single point of failure.

PowerTerm WebConnect Clients
PowerTerm WebConnect includes ten different client types, which provide access to many types of central computational resources. Clients are available for both Linux and Windows and for other environments with Java support. PowerTerm WebConnect clients are downloaded and installed automatically through a Web browser. Once installed, they can be activated through the browser or by using a desktop link. Embedding the clients in the HTML enables seamless integration into corporate portals and, coupled with Directory Services integration, facilitates Single Sign-On. The clients can automatically update themselves whenever a new version is installed on the server — even to locked systems.

The native client for Linux environments (PowerTerm WebConnect HostView) is packaged in two ways for highest distribution compatibility: cross-browser Java downloader, and an XPI installation available for the increasingly popular Mozilla browser.

Centralized Management
Central management and real-time monitoring allows administrators to maximize their system's capabilities, track user behavior, and instantly respond to users who need help. PowerTerm WebConnect has been designed to effectively increase user manageability and network utilization while maintaining interoperability and ease-of-use.

PowerTerm WebConnect's administrative tool allows the system administrator to centrally configure and manage all sessions and to monitor the entire network for session information such as time, location, and length of sessions, in real-time. Extensive logging and reporting features are also included. PowerTerm WebConnect provides a secure connectivity environment, with support for SSL, SSH, Kerberos for encryption and Single Sign On, and secure file transfer (SFTP).

Because the system administrator centrally manages all the web sessions, he has complete control of log-on and resource permissions, as well as the ability to screen against unauthorized access. PowerTerm WebConnect automatically locks accounts that have had excessive failed retries. Powerful feature such as SupportView, Session Reconnect, LDAP, and LPD make PowerTerm WebConnect the product of choice for Web-to-host access.

SupportView: Remote Desktop Support
The client components include PowerTerm WebConnect SupportView - a remote assistance component, which allows for a secure connection between end-user and supervisor/administrator for either training or troubleshooting. This is a fully secured solution, which offers remote control of the entire desktop, beyond session shadowing.
